The Outfit Ranch

We have a lifetime of riding and horsemanship experience here on the Outfit. We use a combination of many training and riding techniques...."natural horsemanship", dressage, and old fashioned "cowboy logic".

Although we recommend the use of western style riding saddle, we accommodate both western and english riders. The western "cowboy" or stock saddle was designed for "all-day" on the trail, over rough and mountainous terrain.

Our horses vary in type and breed. Although we prefer the American Quarterhorse breed, we do use a lot of mixed breed horses. The horses ability to perform at high altitude is the most important factor. We encourage riders of ALL abilities. Beginners are as welcome as experts.....we ALL had to start somewhere!

Because of our size, as well as the location of The Outfit, we offer unlimited types of riding experiences. One day a lope in the pasture....another a trip to our beautiful falls.....the next a climb up the famous “Continental Divide Trail” ….....finally, “better go check the cattle and see about salt and water.” Here at The Outfit we can tailor your "cowboy experience" to suit your dreams and abilities. Another of our activities is our wagon. Our matched team of paint draft horses, Ben & Jerry provide us with an enjoyable way to spend an evening. Nothing like a wagon ride at sunset!

For those that desire, lessons are available as part of your experience. No one ever learns ALL about cowboying and horsemanship, we would love the opportunity to increase the size of your “toolbox”. We do occasionally sell horses or take them in for finishing. Just let us know how we can help when you make your reservations!
